The RNIB report, “Taking the time: telling parents their child is blind or partially sighted” is available at the RNIB website (www.rnib.org.uk). This report provides good practice guidelines for professionals working with newly diagnosed blind and partially sighted children and their families. Of particular interest to ophthalmologists, clinic staff, paediatricians and optometrists. The “Taking the time checklist”, a card with summary guidelines for professionals involved in the diagnosis of blind and partially sighted children, is also available from the same site.
